What you will need to make this homemade ranch dressing

  • Mayonnaise ; homemade or store bought
  • Sour cream; or plain yogurt
  • Lemon juice
  • Dried parsley
  • Dried dill
  • Dried chives
  • Garlic powder or 3 pressed fresh cloves
  • Onion powder
  • Sea salt
  • Black pepper
  • Unsweetened almond milk or sub 2 tbsp heavy cream + 2 tbsp water or regular milk

Let’s make the best ranch recipe you have ever made!

Get a large bowl and whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream and lemon juice.

You can easily make this dairy free when you choose dairy free mayonnaise and dairy free yogurt.

Fresh lemon juice is preferred here as the flavor really is enhanced with fresh versus bottled.

Whisk all of the wet ingredients together until completely smooth.

Now add in all of the rest of the ingredients and whisk well.

You may need to use a spatula to scrape the bottom of the bowl so you do not have any pockets of dry herbs.

Once it is whisked very well, add it to an airtight container and let it sit for minimum 2 hours.

Here are some ideas on how to use this dressing other than on a salad

  • Pair this Copycat Longhorn Steakhouse Ranch Dressing with some boneless skinless chicken breasts in my Low Carb Chicken Bacon Ranch Casserole!
  • Make this recipe but eliminate the added unsweetened almond milk or cream to make it a ranch dip. It will be a lot thicker and perfect for dipping my Extra Crispy Keto Chicken Strips in!
  • Try making the dry mix only and mix with some powdered buttermilk to make your own ranch seasoning to use in your favorite retro recipes calling for a packet of hidden valley ranch dressing.
  • Turn this into an avocado lime ranch dressing when you substitute the lemon juice with lime juice and whir it up in the blender with half of a medium avocado.
  • Infuse the ranch flavors when you marinate your chicken with 1 cup ranch dressing. The acid in the dressing acts as a meat tenderizer. Then you can bread the marinated chicken in panko breadcrumbs or a gluten free version would be ground pork rinds. Then lay them on a baking sheet for the oven, or an air fryer basket for the air fryer. Bake at 400F for 25 minutes in a cast iron skillet. The cast iron gives it a great crust. For the air fryer, turn it to 400F for 20 minutes. If you slice the breasts lengthwise you can cut the time down to 15 min.
  • Try making a quick chicken recipe by laying chicken breasts in a greased 8×8 pan. Mix the ranch spread, the dressing recipe minus the extra liquid, with shredded parmesan cheese. Spread over the top of the chicken breasts and bake at 400F for 20 minutes. Serve with a house salad and some ranch dressing!
  • Turn this homemade ranch dressing into the base for a very delicious chicken salad. Add to a large bowl, cut up cooked chicken, cherry tomatoes, and some celery. Then top it with one recipe of my Copycat Longhorn Steakhouse Ranch Dressing! Eat as is, or serve with your favorite crackers!
