My husband is SO hard to buy gifts for, but the one gift I know I can never go wrong with is chocolate or his favorite Nanaimo Bars Recipe! And just in timefor all of my winter baking, gifting and chocolate drink indulgences, AMERICAN HERITAGE® Chocolate has introduced the brand’s newest products and packaging including Tasting Squares, Tablet Bars, Finely Grated Chocolate, and Gourmet Hot Cocoa. AMERICAN HERITAGE products feature: no preservatives and no artificial ingredients; they are Kosher, Rain Forest Alliance™ Certified, and 57% Cocoa.I love the unique flavor profile of the products and distinctive ease of use in recipes. Here is some more information on AMERICAN HERITAGE products, along with a no-bake recipe that shows my love for two countries that will impress your friends and family this holiday season.

If you are not already familiar with AMERICAN HERITAGE Chocolate, the brand has a unique place in the history of Mars Wrigley Confectionery and in the hearts and minds of people all over America who appreciate an artisanal, authentic approach to making and celebrating chocolate.Conceived of, and crafted by, a dedicated team of historians, AMERICAN HERITAGE Chocolate is the result of painstaking years of research by a multidisciplinary team of more than 115 experts from around the globe. Culled from the archives of some of the most venerated historic institutions, libraries and private collections in America, and in consultation with leaders in food history – from the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation to The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, the passionate team has developed a chocolate product with a flavor profile drawn directly from the annals of chocolate’s historic past.

Tasting Squares – Just the thing for when you want a satisfying bite, but not an entire bar. With rich layers of taste and a hint of spice, one square is a delicious treat!
Tablet Bars – Looking for a unique chocolate experience that can literally take you back in time? The chocolate is inspired by recipes from the 1700s. One bite is like having a tasty history lesson. Test your skills and see if you can guess what spices we’ve used.

To be sure these made it right into my husband’s stocking 😉 I know he’s going to drool over the Tablet Bars. They’re already on my Amazon shopping list for the future because I know after one taste he’s going to ask me to buy them again.

Gourmet Hot Cocoa – There is nothing more satisfying then a rich cup of hot cocoa. The Gourmet Hot Cocoa blend provides a creamy yet spicy taste experience that is literally unlike anything you’ve ever tried before. A unique combination of ingredients means that every sip is perfectly designed to satisfy.

I could not help but smile when I saw on the packaging that you can mix this hot cocoa with water. Most ‘upscale’ cocoa requires heated milk, and I’m just too lazy for that 😉 But heating up some water in my single serve coffee maker, that’s more my jam 🙂 The cocoa is insanely good, and VERY rich. The recommended amount is 1/4 cup of cocoa to 3 oz of water. As I am all about stretching my calories (LOL!), I used that amount with 6 oz, and it was still really chocolatey and delicious!

But this finely grated chocolate y’all, LIFE CHANGING.As soon as I saw this I knew exactly what I was going to make with it.

As some of you know my family immigrated to The United States from Canada. In Canada we have this amazing no-bake treat called Nanaimo Bars. It’s a cocoa graham crust with a vanilla middle layer and chocolate ganache on top. It’s labor intensive but worth every step because it’s divine. What better way to give homage to the country we were born and raised in and the country we chose to become citizens of than to make this Canadian treat with AMERICAN HERITAGE Chocolate?! 😉 The finely grated chocolate makes the ganache topping so easy to make and you get a smooth layered finish that doesn’t crack when you cut it. The flavor of the Finely Grated Chocolate kicks the Nanaimo Bars recipe up a notch from just using basic semi-sweet chocolate squares.
